On April 16, 2026, as the world’s first demonstration project of its kind—the Datang Yuncheng 630℃ National Power Demonstration Project featuring two 1,000 MW units—successfully completed thermal commissioning and was about to begin trial commercial operation, the "Seminar on Engineering Application of the New Generation Martensitic Heat-Resistant Steel G115" was held in Beijing. The seminar was organized by Baowu Special Metallurgy Co., Ltd., Central Iron and Steel Research Institute Co., Ltd., and Datang Shandong Power Generation Co., Ltd., and co-organized by Yangzhou Chengde Steel Pipe Co., Ltd. Zhang Zheng, General Manager of Yangzhou Chengde Steel Pipe Co., Ltd., attended the seminar as the representative of the largest supplier of G115 steel pipes for the Yuncheng power demonstration project. He led the company’s delegation to the seminar and delivered a special report on the manufacturing of G115, titled "Forging Premium Hot-Rolled Products, Empowering New Energy Sources."

The seminar brought together over 150 representatives and guests from more than 70 organizations, including the National Energy Administration, the Special Equipment Safety Supervision Bureau of the State Administration for Market Regulation, China Energy Investment Group, China Huaneng Group, China Huadian Corporation, China Datang Corporation, State Power Investment Corporation, China National Coal Group, Beijing Energy Holding, China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute, Central Iron and Steel Research Institute, Datang Shandong Power Generation Co., Ltd., power design institutes, boiler manufacturers, research institutions, power equipment manufacturers, construction sites, and supporting welding material suppliers, as well as associations such as the China Iron and Steel Association, China Special Steel Association, Steel Pipe Subcommittee of the National Technical Committee on Steel of Standardization Administration of China, Professional Committee on Power Station Welding, and CSTM. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on key aspects including the research and development, manufacturing, demonstration projects, and design applications of G115 heat-resistant steel, contributing to the large-scale application and industrial promotion of this material.

The world’s first Datang Yuncheng 630°C ultra-supercritical double-reheat national power demonstration project, with its core demonstration points centered on "reheat steam temperature at the turbine inlet reaching 630°C and unit power generation thermal efficiency exceeding 50%," adopts domestically developed martensitic heat-resistant steel G115, austenitic steel C5, a generator double-reheat system with power balance, and deep utilization of flue gas waste heat, along with other key technologies. This project has completely broken the long-standing passive situation of relying on imports for high-temperature and high-pressure component materials in China. It has not only facilitated the formation of a complete autonomous industrial system covering material R&D, equipment manufacturing, and engineering applications, but also achieved a dual breakthrough in both core technology self-sufficiency and iterative upgrading of equipment manufacturing. This has laid a solid engineering practice foundation for the subsequent development and application of higher-grade ultra-supercritical power generation technologies.
